The nine-tailed fox had nearly destroyed Hidden Leaf 12 years previously. It is one of the "bijuu", a tailed beast of the ancient world. It took the sacrifice of the Fourth Hokage to imprison the demon and place it into the body of the young baby Uzumaki Naruto. It was the Fourth's hope that the Leaf villagers would look at Naruto as a hero for serving as the vessel to contain the demon. However, the people of leaf village see Naruto as the Kyuubi itself and shun him.

Tailed Demons

In the world of Naruto there are demons and spirits which have their own power and chakra. Below are the ten tailed demons which have been trapped inside the bodies of different people so that they don't cause destruction. The above picture is of Rikudou Sennin. The person in which the strongest of all the demons, Juubi, the ten-tailed demon is trapped.

Reibi (Zero-Tail)

Tail number: Zero

Reibi was a spirit which grew out of the dark thoughts and feelings of the downtrodden. Though it bears a numerical tail name, it was not a true Bijuu. The negative emotions allowed the spirit to create dark chakra, which could be used and manipulated by others. When someone near the Reibi was emotionally unstable, it could inhabit their body and take them over. The remnants of the Sky Country used the Reibi to create dark chakra to power their ultimate weapon, Ancor Vantian. This dark chakra could was also personally used by Shinnou, the man who orchestrated the revivial of the Sky Country ninja forces.
